Gary D. Schmidt (born 1957) is an American children's writer of nonfiction books and young adult novels. Both a Newbery Honor and a Printz Honor was awarded to the book ''Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy'' and a Newbery Honor was awarded to ''The Wednesday Wars''.
